CONCORDIA Sister Helena Marie Hebert, 98, Concordia, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, at St. Mary's Convent, Concordia.
Sister Helena Marie was born Melina Edna Hebert on Oct. 3, 1897, at Aurora and received her religious name and habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph on Aug. 15, 1914. She made her final vows to the community on Aug. 15, 1916. She taught grade and high schools staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in the Salina diocese at Beloit, Leoville, Aurora and Junction City. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1986 and completed research on the Hebert family tree. Survivors include a brother, Francis of Concordia; a half brother, Edward of Port Angeles, Wash.; and a half sister, Doreme Dugas of Marysville.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Convent Chapel, the Rev. William Kraus officiating.
Burial will be in Nazareth Convent Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund or Apostolic Mission Fund.
Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, Concordia, is handling arrangements.
