LUVERNE, Minn. - Clem S. Kosse, 97, of Luverne, Minn., and formerly of Caledonia, Minn., died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, Minn.
He was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Marshall, Minn., to parents August and Bernadine (Schroeder) Kosse. He moved with his family in 1916 to rural Dickey, N.D., and received his education at a rural school near Dickey.
After his schooling, he farmed with his family. In 1936, he moved to Caledonia and was engaged in farming.
Clem was united in marriage to Mary Wilkes on June 2, 1937, in Dickey. They made their home near Caledonia and were engaged in farming until 1967, when they moved into Caledonia. He then was a mechanic at Caledonia Implement.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being with his family that was so important to him. Clem moved to Luverne in 2005 and resided at Oaks Independent Living until his death.
Clem is survived by his children, Joanne (John) Postelwait of Merriam, Kan., Theresa Beckman of Inwood, Iowa, and Father Gerald Kosse of Adrian, Minn.; son-in-law, Dr. Robert Frisch of Mosinee, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Gloria) Kosse of Carrington, N.D.; and sisters, Mary Shanline of Pratt, Kan., and Gladys Koke of Santa Clara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary, in 1998; daughter, Rita Frisch, in 2001; one great-grandchild; four brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCormick Funeral Home in Caledonia with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia officiated by Father Gerald Kosse and Father Tom Jennings. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Caledonia.
