Margaret Harrell Tatum, 104, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2012. She was born in Anniston, Alabama on April 2, 1908.
She graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama and taught school for awhile and then she worked for Georgia-Alabama Freight Line as an office manager.
Margaret was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. After her husband died, she worked for Renfroe Florist in Opelika, and then became the secretary for Trinity Methodist Church for over ten years.
Mrs. Tatum's death was preceded by her husband Glenn Anthony Tatum and brothers Arthur and Charles and her sisters Mary, Evelyn, and Elsie.
She is survived by her brothers Morris, Frank and Neil Self, sons Dr. Glenn A. Tatum, Jr. and wife Ann, Laurice A. Tatum II and wife Sharon, daughter Elsie Louise and husband Dr. Charles Bellville, grandchildren Glenn III, Elizabeth, Tyler, Whitney, Hunter, and Winston, and three great-grandchildren Gabriel, Sebastian, and Tristan. Memories of Gamma will be cherished by her family, friends and all who knew her.
On Tuesday, September 25 at Trinity Methodist Church in Opelika, Alabama there will be a luncheon at 11:00am, visitation at 12:30pm and services at 1:30pm. Immediately following, internment will be at Garden Hills Cemetery.
