Olive Burnett passed away on July 4, 2013 at the age of 102. She was born in Detroit on May 1, 1911 to Annie and John Graham, the youngest of their four children.
She was predeceased by her brother and her two sisters, and by her beloved husband, David Burnett, whom she married in 1932 and who passed away in 1983.
Olive is survived by her son, David Burnett and his wife Claire Gaudiani of New York City; two grandchildren, Graham of New York City, and Maria of Washington, DC and Kampala, Uganda; and four great-grandchildren.
Olive and David made their home in Berkley beginning in 1945 and were founding members of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church. Olive shared her gifts as a teacher and storyteller throughout her life, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, Head Start teacher, and storyteller at the Berkley Public Library for many years.
A memorial service will be arranged by the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, (248) 398-6500 at a later date. Private burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit.
The family would appreciate memorial contributions in Olive's honor to the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Taylor.
