Idell Burnett Bourland, 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with family and friends officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis.

Mrs. Bourland was born July 9, 1915, in Atoka, Okla., to Claud and Mary (Roach) Betts. In 1925, the family moved to Bovina. Later, the family moved to Hall County where she attended school.

She married Cliff Burnett in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1960. She then moved with her mother to Ennis, where she was co-owner of Amelia Ann Florist with her sister-in-law, Dorothy Betts. In 1973, she married Fred Bourland of Quail. They lived in Ennis until 2000, at which time they moved to San Angelo.

Following Fred's death in 2002, she moved to Ware Center in Amarillo. Mrs. Bourland was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and had unwavering faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. In her retirement, she developed her painting skills, which focused on birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; and two brothers, Dick Betts and Dwight Betts.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Betts of Ennis, Lucille Burnett of Memphis, Clara Holcomb of Wheeler and Ara Burnett of Carlsbad, N.M.; two nephews, Dwight Betts and wife, Nancy, of Dallas and John Clifton Holcomb and family of Wheeler; a great-niece and nephew, Jolee and Jake Betts of Dallas; two nieces, Mary Anthony and husband, Bill, of Amarillo and Audra Beth Garland and husband, Jimmy, of Goodnight; three stepdaughters, Fredda Schooler and husband, Van, of Morton, Lynn White and husband, David, of College Station and Beth Holtz and husband, Steve, of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Matt Schooler of Friendswood, Sallye and Dan Jeter of Arlington, Amy Holtz of Greenville and Tonya and Chris Fikes of Kerrville; and two great-grandsons, Van Jeter and Corbin Fikes.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
