Obituary:
Mrs. Annie Mae Hickox Scott, 74 of Waycross, passed away Monday evening (August 1, 2011) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
Born in Screven, GA on February 6, 1937, she had lived in Pierce County before moving to Waycross in the late ‘70's. Mrs. Scott was a retired CNA and had worked at the Pierce County Hospital and Memorial Hospital (now Satilla Regional Medical Center) and was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Scott was a daughter of the late Melvin & Mozell Johnson Hickox and was also preceded in death by her second mother, Ina Johnson; her first husband, Bill Merchant; her second husband, Charles Scott, Sr. and two brothers, William Hickox and Russell Hickox.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah & Ralph Barnard of Blackshear; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Kris Merchant of Dryden, Maine and Billy Merchant and Charles Scott, Jr. both of Waycross; four sisters, Julia (Clyde) Lawton of Waycross, Mary Jane Heath of Jesup, Glenda Sue (Downey) Herndon of Dixie Union and Kathleen (Marvin) Gill of Offerman; six brothers, J. D. Hickox and Raymond (Vickie) Hickox all of Patterson, Wendell Hickox of Blairsville, Clayton & Tracey Hickox of Glen St. Marys, Layton (Petra) Hickox of St. Marys and Stevie Hickox of Waycross; 7 grandchildren, Carrie Mullis (Justin) Mclees, J. R. Mullis, Patrick Mullis, David Mullis, Raymond Merchant, Shelly Merchant and Josh Scott and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation:
Visitation for Mrs. Scott will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Service:
Funeral services for Mrs. Scott will be held at 3:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon (August 4, 2011) at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the New Home Cemetery.
