Brother Theodore Kappel, OSC, (born Gilbert), age 73, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Winsted, to Isabelle (LaMothe) and Alfred Kappel.

Br. Ted was a canon regular at the Crosier Priory of the Holy Cross in Onamia. He joined the Crosier Novitiate in 1957, and professed first vows in 1958.

Br. Ted was stationed at Crosier priories in Hastings, Neb., Fort Wayne, Ind., and Onamia, serving the communities through his fraternal care, his constancy at common prayer, and his work in house maintenance and facility upkeep. A consistent, generous, and good confrere, Br. Ted served Crosier religious life and the church through his simplicity and dedication.

He was a life-long sports fan of the Crosier Knights of Crosier Seminary at Onamia, and of all Minnesota professional teams, especially the Twins.

A funeral Mass took place Thursday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Crosier Priory in Onamia, with visitation preceding the Mass, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment was in the Crosier Priory cemetery in Onamia.

Br. Ted is survived by his Crosier confreres; three brothers, Francis (wife Carol), Marvin (wife Glorian), and Gervase (wife Donna); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Deloris Schweiger.
