Eva was born in Huntington, Emery, Utah on 27 January, 1912 to Joseph Ernest & Sarah Elmeda Gardner Howard. She was the middle child of five, an older brother, older sister and two younger sisters. She grew up on a farm, and always had much to do and adventures to have.
When she married Cleon, after dating for about 2 years, they made their home in Ferron, Emery, Utah. She is the mother of three sons. (Dennis, died after only 2 months of life.)
Since they began their family during depression times, on 5 Aug 1931, they had to move around looking for jobs to provide for the family, (road construction, coalmines, & Toole Ordinance depot. Cleon's father gave him ground in Ferron, and he built a service station and it opened on 2 January 1946, and they bought his grandfather's home that was next door and lived there until they each passed away.
While Cleon was selling farm equipment and repairing any vehicle or piece of farm machinery that needed care in the county and beyond, Eva was busy with the boys, her church work where she held many positions in all the organizations, her large gardens and fruit trees and bushes and her great work as genealogist and historian. Her passion for genealogy turned into full time research where she submitted many thousands of names for temple work. She also organized trips to the Manti temple that she invited her family, friends and ward members to help her process those names that she had submitted.
Their family took several nice trips and tried to go fishing at Ferron Reservoir every year. This is where Cleon passed away in July of 1973. After that she tried selling a little gas from the service station herself, but then leased it to others. On 12 March 1978, a propane pilot light ignited a leaking gas tank and the garage blew up.
Emery Stake created a Family History Library in their stake center and called Eva to be the coordinator of this library. She had the responsibility of setting it up and getting things organized, ordering supplies and equipment, and calling others to help there.
She had poor health and stayed mostly at home in her later years. She passed away in 2000 at the age of 88. She out lived her parents and all her siblings, her husband and all her children.
