Five in Family Die at Crossing, Only Baby Survives
Mr. and Mrs. Walter E, Leonard of Sioux City decided they had enough gas left to take a little ride after Sunday night supper. So they left the dishes on the table, bundled up their four children, and started out.
Late in the evening, neighbors wondered why they didn’t come home. Then they learned that five of the six members of the family had been killed when their car was struck by a caboose at a crossing. Only survivor was 1½-year old Harold Leonard, who was in critical condition in a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services for five were held at Pender, Nebraska.
