Lela Elizabeth Bryars
(November 30, 1923 - September 21, 2010)
Mrs. Lela E. Bryars, 86, of Waycross died Tuesday afternoon at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in Andalusia, Alabama to the late Johnny Johnson and Camilla Johnson. Mrs. Bryars had made Waycross her home for the past forty years. Mrs. Bryars was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Lela was a loving, faithful wife and mother. She loved the Bible and spent much of her life teaching her children and many others the wonderful qualities of the God she served, Jehovah. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself, her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a happy woman with a smile. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Harold Bryars, Sr.
Mrs. Bryars is survived by a son, Mark H. Bryars, Jr., and his wife Peggy of Waycross, two daughters, Rita Mathis of Lakeland, Georgia, Linda Windham and her husband Conrad of Waycross, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m., to 2 p.m., on Saturday. Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.milesodumfuneralhome.com.
