Kittanning
Earl L. Peschel, 87, of Kittanning, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Reading, a son of the late George W and Anna Peschel. He was retired from Naval Ordinance of the Federal Government and previously worked as a conductor on the Reading Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning and enjoyed railroading. He is survived by his wife, Joan Peschel; five stepdaughters, Kay Bigley, of Sligo, Linda Hutchison, of Chicora, Elaine Scarnato, of Butler, Susan Leopold, of East Brady, and Andrea Hillwig, of Kaylor; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Peschel; brother, Orville Peschel; and sister, Eleanor. Private services were held today at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Kittanning, with the Rev. James Higgins officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl Johnson. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
