While growing up in Headland, her father was a square-dance caller so this allowed her and her sister and brothers the opportunity to learn to dance. She enjoyed this so much. She attended Headland High School. Also, during her teen years she had the opportunity to travel with her sister by train to work in Hollywood, Fla.
Queen was very passionate about her family. She was a very dedicated Wife and Mother. After moving to Columbus in 1946 she began work in the Bibb Mill. She also became an avid seamstress. Later, she worked as a beautician for several shops, the last one being Mary Lee's in Columbus. She continued her beautician work for many years after in her home. She was a life-long member of Temple Baptist Church and was affiliated with Second Baptist Church.
Queen was the most Godly, giving and amazing woman. She never met a stranger and all who met her were impacted by her loving compassion and smile. Of all the things she could do her greatest desire was to serve the Lord by doing for others. Her caring acts of kindness will never be forgotten. We will carry her with us the rest of our lives. In her ninety years she taught us a lot, to be honest, caring and above all she taught us how to LOVE.
