Joseph Alexander Weyraugh was born April 23, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, the only child of Albert Summers Weyraugh and Maria Elizabeth Dugan Weyraugh. He began violin lessons at an early age and continued throughout his high school years.
In 1935 his family moved to Arlington, VA where he graduated from Washington and Lee High School in 1942. Starting at age 15 he worked at an electrical repair shop in Washington, DC during the summers and holidays.
During WWII he enlisted in the Navy Sea Bees and served on the USS Zaniah AG70 in the Pacific. Joe's parents died within three months of each other, and were buried by the time he was given leave to come home in 1945, while serving his country during WWII.
On June 10, 1946, he married Frieda Entzian after a three month courtship. He was discharged from the Navy shortly after WWII was over and attendend George Washington University, while working for VEPCO. Later he worked for the U.S. Government including Bureau of Engraving and Printing, FAA at the construction of Dulles Airport, Washington Navy Yard and NAVAIR.
He had many interests and hobbies and was an active member in the VFW, Railway Historical Society and Baltimore Train and Trolley Club. His lifelong fascination with trains began as a child growing up in Baltimore in the 1920s when most city dwellers traveled everywhere by rail.
He had a Christian burial with military honors in the Weyraugh family burial plot near Baltimore.

On Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Fairfax Hospital. Husband of Frieda L. Weyraugh; father of Phyllis (H. Clifford) Lloyd and Maria Weyraugh. Also survived by two grandsons, Cliff and Michael Lloyd. Private services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 825 S. Taylor St., Arlington, VA 22204-1498. Arrangements by MURPHY.
