Horace Albert Fillingim
ALLISON - Horace Albert Fillingim, 80, died Monday, March 8, 2004.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Fillingim was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Wheeler County to Iving Gillis and Laura Fillingim. He had been a farmer for most of his life. Mr. Fillingim graduated from Canadian High School in 1942 and attended Watch Makers School in Amarillo. He married Juanita Boren on Sept. 19, 1954, in Olney Springs, Colo. After marrying, they moved to the Allison Community from Colorado in 1967. Mr. Fillingim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy and was a member of Allison United Methodist Church in Allison.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy; his parents; a sister, Leola Root; and four brothers, Leon, E.G., William and Hugh Fillingim.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lawrence Fillingim of Tatum; a daughter, Bonnie Maddox of Tatum; two brothers, Talmadge Fillingim of Providence, Utah, and Willis Fillingim of Wheeler; two sisters, Eula Mae Newman of Saginaw and Laura Cornelia Lehman of Mcgregor, Minn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Adam Tipps Fund, 9575 CR 15, Briscoe, TX 79011-9612.
