Mr. J. Paulson
Jess Paulson, whose death occurred at his home in Ruthton on October 2nd, was born November 24th, 1851, at Nabel Denmark.
He was married to Miss Christine Jakobsen on October 20th, 1876 and by the grace of God this couple was privileged to celebrate the fiftieth wedding anniversary on the 20th of October last year.
They came to America in March, 1882 and took up residence in Minnesota near Marshall. In 1892 on account of his wife's health, moved to Florida, where they resided two years, then they came to Ruthton, but shortly after moved out on their farm.
In 1899 he was led by the grace of God to accept Jesus as his personal Savior, was baptized the same year, and together with a few others, organized and built a Danish Baptist church in Tyler of which he was a member until his death.
He was called of the Danish Conference in 1903 as a colporter to the state of Iowa, and the family then moved to Ruthton and have lived there since.
The deceased had attained the age of 75 years, 10 months and 7 days.
There survive beside his wife, four children as follows: Hannah of Ruthton, Paul of Tyler, Annie of Ruthton, and Lina of Pequot, Minnesota. There are also thirteen grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Lutheran church at Ruthton and the services were rendered by the signer. Interment was made in the Ruthton cemetery.
Mr. Paulson was a good neighbor, a kind husband and father. He leaves many friends behind him who will never forget what he has done for them, and others praise God for their salvation they have found through the work done by our deceased brother. – Contributed by Rev. H. H. Sorensen.
