Funeral Services For Mrs. J. Paulsen Tuesday

Mrs. Jess Paulsen died last Saturday at the home of her son, Paul Paulson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev. Byer of Westbrook officiating. Rev. Brygger conducted the rites at the Baptist Church in Tyler. Burial was made in the Ruthton cemetery.

The pall bearers were Chr. Olsen, Peter Melby, Chr. Petersen, M. Brygger, Carl Jensen and Ole Olsen.

Mrs. Paulsen was born at Wester Nebel, Denmark, March 2nd, 1858. On October 26, 1876, she was united in marriage to Jess Paulsen. To this union were born four children Mrs. Fred Larsen, Mrs. Jens Olsen, Paul Paulsen, and Mrs. Chris Sorensen of St. Paul. The family came to America in 1882 and settled on a farm west of Marshall. Several years later they moved to the vicinity of Ruthton and in 1911 retired and moved to Ruthton. In 1899 Mrs. Paulsen helped to organize the Danish Baptist Church at Tyler of which she was a member at the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death about seven years.

Besides the children who are left to mourn, are 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one brother, Theo Jacobsen of Marshall, and many friends far and near.

Those from out of town who were present for the funeral were: Mrs. Chr. Sorensen of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Gilbertsen of Pipestone, Rev. Byers and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Petersen of Westbrook.

Aged Lady Summoned by Death

Mrs. Jess Paulson, who has been in poor health for a long time and who has been critically ill for the past two months passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jess Olsen, northeast of town Saturday, January 26th.

Mrs. Paulson was born at Veste Nebel, Denmark, March 2nd, 1858 making her 77 years old at the time of her death.

She was married to Jess Paulson October 20th, 1876 and with her husband came to America in the spring of 1882, locating on a farm eight miles west of Marshall and living there until 1890 when they moved to the farm near twin lakes northwest of Ruthton.

In 1911 they retired from active work and moved to Ruthton. Mr. Paulson passed away seven years ago and Mrs. Paulson has resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olsen, since.

Mrs. Paulson was the mother of four children, Mrs. Fred Larsen, living here; Mrs. Olsen, northeast of town, Paul of Tyler, and Mrs. Lena Sorensen of St. Paul. She had 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a brother, Theo. Jacobsen, living at Marshall. Mrs. Paulson was a good women and had many friends who will be sorry to learn of her passing.

Funeral services were held from the Olsen home Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock and from the Danish Lutheran church at 2:30 with Rev. Bryyger and Rev. Matthews in charge of the services. Burial made in the Ruthton cemetery beside her husband. Mrs. Lena Sorensen was here to attend her mother's funeral as well as friends from Tyler and this community.
