Mary M. Partlow died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. She was 100-years old.
Born Mary Margaret Morgan on May 29, 1911, in Marietta, she was the daughter of John W. and Mary L. (Bergen) Morgan. Marrying Walter W. Partlow in 1931, Mary enjoyed a full life as homemaker and mother living in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and New Orleans before settling into what would become her residence of many years, Parkersburg.
In Parkersburg, she worked in retail for John Morgan & Associates, her brother's shoe business located in Dils' Department Store. Mary's working career eventually led her to the position as executive director of the Wood County, W.Va., Lung Association from which she retired in 1976. While a resident of Parkersburg, Mary was an active member of St. Andrew's U.M. Church, serving on various committees and organizations throughout the years. Failing health in her later years required her move to Martinsburg, W.Va., to be nearer her children.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Partlow, and her brothers, John Wilson Morgan and Robert Dean Morgan, all of Parkersburg. She is survived by a daughter, Susan L. Michlow (Ronald) of Freeport, N.Y.; a son, John M.O. Partlow (Elizabeth) of Martinsburg; a granddaughter, Karen J. McCann (Richard) of Taylorsville, N.C.; and grandson, Benjamin D. Partlow of Martinsburg.
In addition, she is survived by great-granddaughters, Keara, Zaylie and Alyssa McCann, all of Taylorsville.
Interment will be at Putnam Cemetery, Devola, following graveside services officiated by the Rev. Barbara Jackson. The family is assisted by McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.
The family requests anyone seeking to remember Mary to offer memorial donations in her name to the Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle, Martinsburg.
