George Miller was the son of Enos and Desaney (Vilheaux) Miller. Early in his childhood he and his parents moved to Canada where he received his education. He came to Kansas in 1858 and settled in Lecompton. He married Margaret Lowery on February 22, 1859 and in 1860 they moved to Prairie City, Kansas in the southeastern part of the county.
George was a stonemason and his stone house still sits on a hill to the west of Prairie City Cemetery along with the graves of two of his nine children.
