Ralph Richard Armstrong, 79, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Stillwater. Services with Rev. Les Washnock officiating will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Poteet Funeral Chapel in Pawnee. Interment will follow at Skedee Cemetery. Poteet Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
Armstrong was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Hallett to Sullivan and Tura Nancy (Reese) Armstrong. He married Billie Faye Wilson Feb. 1, 1962, in Winfield, Kan. He attended school at Skedee and graduated from high school with the class of 1939. He served in the Navy from 1943 until 1945 on the USS Essex. He was awarded the Victory and the Pacific Campaign medals. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Ralston.
He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Joy Williams; his brother, Roy Armstrong; a grandson, Jason Armstrong; and his granddaughter, Shannon Spears. Armstrong is survived by his wife of Skedee; daughters, Nancy Robinson and husband Richard, Frederick, Judy Bates and husband Clyde, Kansas City, Mo., Patricia Fordyce and husband Jim, Edmond, Angie Reynolds and husband Chris, Norman; son, Ralph "Rocky" Armstrong, Jr., Skedee; stepsons, Brack Spears and his wife Jerri, Garber, Tim Spears and wife Kathy, Pawnee; sister, Hazel Bell, Skedee; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
