Isaac A. "Lonnie" Flesher
Isaac A. "Lonnie" Flesher, 78, of 2305 Northpointe Dr., Bloomington, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday (Aug 20, 1998) at the Illinois Veterans' Home, Manteno.
His funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Dr. James Bortell officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association and/or donor's choice.
He was born June 19, 1920, in Gridley, the son of Clarence Lester and Lula Francis Claggett Flesher. He married Elva Elizabeth Nettleton on May 8, 1942, in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Donna Doreen Crites, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; two sons, Terry James flesher, Belen, N.M., Ted Robin Flesher, Decatur, Texas; one sister, Caroline Whipple, Gridley; one brother, Lester Flesher, Champaign; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He attended primary school at Gregory and Wilcox schools and graduated from Towanda High School in June 1938. He enlisted in the Air Force in January 1941. He was a radio operator on B24 Bombers in the Eighth Air Force in England and Africa. After the war he returned to school and graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in June 1953. Job requirements took him to New York, Arizona, California, Denmark and Holland. He retired from General Dynamics in 1987.
He was a devoted family man and took much pleasure in his children and grandchildren.
