Miss Eleanor A. Hall.

Miss Eleanor A. Hall, widely known as a nurse at Alexandria and at Fortress Monroe during the Civil War, and many years an active worker in the W.C.T.U., died suddenly at her home, 21 Allston street, Monday afternoon at 6 o'clock. She was 91 years, 1 month and 6 days old.

She had been in poor health for more than a year, and had been confined to her bed most of the time, but was well as usual till late in the afternoon, when she complained of not feeling well and passes away before medical attendance was obtained.

Medical Examiner F. H. Thompson viewed the body and pronounced the cause of death to be old age. Miss Hall was born in Wetmoreland, N.H. and was a daughter of Seth and Hannah Hall. In 1863 she tendered her services as nurse to the Union army and was located at the hospital at Alexandria for a year and then transferred to Fortress Monroe, where she remained till the end of the war.

She came to Fitchburg soon after the war and until advanced years interposed she was engaged in seamstress work. She was a regular attendant at the First Baptist church for many years and an active member of the W.C.T.U.

One sister, Mrs. C. A. Smith, and several nephews and nieces survive her.
