HEALDTON -- Services for Myrtle Gaither, 93, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Baptist Church with Brother Bob Keck officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery at Healdton. Arrangements are under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 13, 1913, at Hobart to Edward and Drucila O'Daniel Bryant, she died Dec. 2, 2006, at Healdton. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
Myrtle attended school at Claypool, while living with family members, Ken and Willie Pryor. She graduated from Dundee High School and attended business college at Ardmore. Myrtle lived in California for a time and worked as a business manager for Shell Oil Company in the gasoline department.
She married Bob Gaither March 15, 1933, at Duncan. She raised her family and worked side-by-side with her husband on the family farm at Fox for many years. Myrtle loved fishing, camping and watching Dallas Cowboy football.
She unselfishly gave of herself to her family and friends, always preparing a meal for whoever was around. She cooked for every coon hunter and horse man in the country.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and J.W. McCartney, Healdton; three grandsons, Bobby McCartney and his wife, Kathy, Fox, Bill McCartney and his wife, Vickie, Davis, and John McCartney and his wife, Marchi, Oklahoma City; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo "Booger" and Rebecca "Butch" Bryant, Ringling; five great-grandchildren, Colin, Jonathon, Paige, Jennifer and Melissa McCartney; two sisters-in-law, Helen Jean Roberts and Iva Hope and a brother-in-law, Cecil Gaither.
Bearers are Bobby McCartney, Bill McCartney, John McCartney, J.W. McCartney, Colin McCartney and Jonathon McCartney.
