The daughter of Jean Baptiste Gothuey and Anne Perroud, "Delphine" was born in Semsales, Fribourg, Switzerland.
Delphine married Peter Calvey on 10 Jun 1866 in Calhoun County, Illinois. He was a farmer and the father of 3 children from his first marriage. 1 of his children, Walter, had died in infancy.
Delphine and Peter raised his children and had 5 more of their own. A daughter, Wealthy, died diphtheria in March of 1880 at the age of 2.
At the time of her death due to pneumonia, Delphine was 74 years, 4 months and 14 days old. She was buried on 20 Dec 1916 and was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, who passed away in 1894.
