Clyde married Helen Greaves, of Preston, Idaho, on 16 February 1946, in Preston. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on 24 October 1949.
During World War II, Clyde served as a cryptographer and Staff Sergeant in the China/Burma/India Theater. Much of his military service was spent in India and Pakistan. After the war he returned to his previous occupational post as a history teacher at Blackfoot High School. Later, he and Helen moved to Downey where he supported his family as a dry farmer (wheat and barley), teacher, and Principal of Downey Elementary and Jr. High schools, 1952-1977.
Clyde also served as a trustee for the Bannock County Hospital and Nursing Home Board in Pocatello and Marsh Valley Hospital in Downey. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including Portneuf Stake Clerk for nearly 20 years.
