Funeral services will be held Tuesday (2-12-02) for Frances Ethel Bates Novak, of O'Brien Memorial
Nursing Home, Brookfield, Ohio, formerly of 875 Thomas Ave., Sharon, who passed away at 4:28 a.m. Thursday
(2—07-02) in the nursing home. She was 87. She was born on April 19, 1914 in Andover Ohio to Paul and Ethel Lane Bates. Mrs. Novak attended schools in Jamestown and Sharon.
In her earlier years, she was employed by the former Sharon
Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. where she worked for nine years as a tester in aisle A-40. She also worked for the Flame Restaurant in Brookfield for
nine years before she retired in 1977. Mrs. Novak was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. Her husband, Joseph L. Novak, whom she married July 29, 1943 preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2000. Surviving are: two daughters, Beverly L. Love and her husband Thomas, Oriental, N.C.; Mary Ellen Hicklin and her husband Daniel,
Boardman, Ohio; and one son Wilbur G. Novak, Geneva, Ohio; one sister, Genevieve Davis, Brookfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter,
Service: Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday (2-12-02) in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with the Rev. Stanley Swacha, as celebrant. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
