Death of Major Thomas Slack In
This City Yesterday Afternoon.
Major Thomas Slack died at his home corner of Daggett avenue and Adams street, this city at 12:45 p.m. on yesterday after a short Illness.
His death was sudden and only the members of his family and those very near him knew he was ailing.
Major Slack was born July 4, 1823 and lived a little past his three score years and ten. His son Alfred M. Slack, is in the City of Mexico, and cannot reach here in time for the burial.
Major Stack served with distinction in the Trans-Mississippi army under General Price. Only a few of the old veterans remain to sing a parting note today at his grave.
The funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian church at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon.

⬥︎Major Thomas Slack, who has relatives in the city, and was well known to all old ex-Confederate soldiers in this state, died suddenly in Fort Worth, Texas, yesterday. Major Slack was a brother of General William Y. Slack, who had command of the Confederate forces at the terrible battle of Pea Ridge.
