Ralph Chick was almost 74 years old when he passed away. I remember him well from our youth when we both went to Pompano Beach High School. He was active in Football, Social Dancing, Baseball, Track and was Vice President of the Student Body in his Junior year. He also was on the Oracle Staff that same year. Ralph moved to South Florida as a young teenager, where he attended and graduated from Pompano Beach High School. He enrolled in the army and played on the army's baseball team during his tour of duty in Europe. In addition to being an outstanding athlete, Ralph was a local musician who had a tremendous local fan base throughout his career in South Florida. Ralph spent much of his years of retirement coaching his grandson's sports teams and playing golf and racquetball. He will be greatly missed by his two loving daughters, Shon Chick and Shannon Crage; the mother of his children, Susan Armstrong; his grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Cameron and Madison; his brothers, Bill and Ernest and their families; sister, Marion and her family; cousins, the Chisholm family, and many close and dear friends. A private service will be held at the Hospice By the Sea in Boca Raton, where he died. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association and/or Hospice by the Sea.
