from the 1976 History of Hendricks County, Indiana:

Fay was born on November 10, 1878, the oldest child of John and Amelia Frances (Magill) Scott. Fay had one sister, Iva, and three brothers, Glen, Ora and Horace. His great-grandparents, William and Sarah (Gibson) Montgomery, were among the first settlers in what is now Union Township, Hendricks County where they purchased land on October 21, 1830, as shown in the Recorder's Office, Danville.
Fay was born in Eel River Township. When he was a small boy, his parents purchased another farm of 107 acres in Union Township. Since this was a larger farm, but had no house, they decided to move their house to Union Township. The family lived in the house, even to cooking, while the house was being moved.

Fay and Adelia Scamahorn were married in the Lizton Christian Church on September 30, 1903. Fay and Adelia (known to her friends as Dee, which she prefers) lived in Union Township until they purchased a farm in Middle Township in 1910 and moved there. In 1916, they purchased the Young farm in Eel River Township. They moved to this new farm where they lived until they retired from farming. They then moved into a newly constructed house in Lizton in 1959. They were both active members of the Lizton Christian Church their entire lives. They had one daughter, Jeannette, now Mrs. Lowell E. Pritchett. Fay died on September 6, 1963 after several years of illness.

from the Republican for Sept. 12, 1963:

Funeral services for Fay Scott were conducted in the Lizton Christian Church, Monday afternoon. He died at his home in Lizton Friday evening. Burial was in the K. of P. Cemetery there.

Born November 10, 1878, he would have been 85 years of age in November. The son of John and Amelia (McGill) Scott, he was married to Adelia Scamahorn on Sept. 30, 1903. Plans were being made to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary the latter part of this month. He was a member of the Lizton Christian Church where he had been a deacon for many years.

Survivors include the widow, Adelia; one daughter, Mrs. Jeannette Pritchett; a sister, Miss Iva Scott; a brother, Horace Scott; all of Lizton and a granddaughter.
