Esther (Everett) Anderson, 98, Sioux Falls, SD, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001.
Funeral services was held Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with Rev. Timothy J. Heupel and Rev. Alexander Whitfield, officiating.
Pallbearers were Bud, Larry and Gary Crittenden, Richard Stempges, Paul, Howard, Norm and Les Everett. Interment was at Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls.
Esther Everett, daughter of Amelia (Miller) and Fred Everett was born Jan. 25, 1903 in Jasper, MN. She grew up there, was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. After graduating from Jasper High School in 1920, she was employed in Lincoln, Neb. and Sioux Falls.
On April 3, 1930, she was united in Marriage to :James Anderson in Omaha, Neb. The couple made their home on an acreage at 39th and Western Avenue in 1933, where she lived until moving to Good Samaritan Assisted Living in June of 1996 Esther's life centered on being a loving homemaker and mother. In the late 1940's, she worked in sales at J.C. Penney Department Store in the men's department. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on March 26, 1976.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, participated in community affairs in South Sioux Falls, including South Soo Garden Club, South Soo PTA, and many other organizations in which she held numerous offices. She enjoyed working in her garden, growing fruit trees and particularly, she loved the lawn mowing.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Harrington, Corte Madera, Calif.; a sister, Alice Stempges, Jasper; special friends, Bud and Eunice Crittenden, Sioux Falls; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in dearth by her son-in-law, three brothers and five sisters.
