Adelbert was the son of the Rev. Sam Corley, the Mexican war soldier. Adelbert came to Texas in 1848. For over thirty years he was the clerk of Red River County.

Corley transferred to Goulds Regiment, served to end of war, a worthy citizen, died in Clarksville, RRCo TX, CLARKSVILLE TIMES 23 Jan 1909, Tuesday, from microfilm in the Clarksville Library: obit for wife Margaret C. Corley has his name as Captain A. P. Corley, MARRIAGE: Adelbert T. Corley married Margarett C. Gattis on 14 Jan 1868 in RRCo TX Book A page 72, DEATH CERTIFICATE issued in RRCo TX Book 1 page 135: name as A. P., age 75 years, male white. From Civil War Veterans buried or dying in Red River County, Texas by Lawrence and Sue Dale.
