Magdalene was the 6th of 8 children of Jacob Yerian and Barbara Leiby of Union County, Pennsylvania. She was baptised Mary Magdalene Yerian. She married by 1810 to John Philip Roush. He died in 1844. They are both buried in St. Peter's Cemetery. Mary is listed with her son Philip Philip in the 1850 census of Washington Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.
