From the July 9, 1926 Brown County World:
Morgan Walters was born in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, Aug 6, 1847. He is the last member of his fathers and mothers family, John and Sarah Walters, consisting of three brothers, two sisters. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emma L. Adams, Monday morning, June 28, at about 2 o'clock. His age at the time of his death was 78 years, 10 months, 22 days. He had not been well for nine months. Recently before his death he said he wished God would call him home. The chastening hand of Christ was upon him. We feel certain no greater joy can be ours than to know that the holy and precious blood of Jesus Christ has washed all our sins away. Mr. Walters was baptized in his youth and joined the Baptist church in Wales, but was not identified with the church after coming to America. He was a kind and loving husband and father. Mrs. Walters died four years ago last March. One grandchild, two great grandchildren preceded him in death. Five children survive him, John W., David R., Mrs. Sarah Schrader, Mrs. Mary A. Justice, Mrs. Emma L. Adams. At the funeral service in Bethel Baptist Church a quartet composed of Conrad Rice, Laz Morgan, Mrs. Thos. McCoy, Mrs. George Barnes sang "Rock of Ages," "Going Down the Valley," "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." The sermon was preached by Rev. A. E. Martin, Baptist pastor of Hiawatha, who took as his text the 80th Psalm. Body bearers were six of his grandsons, Loyd, Wesley Walters, Paul, Leslie, Floyd Schrader, Clarence Justice. Burial in Hiawatha Cemetery.
