Mrs. Gerry Royce, nee Zada Case, Dies After Brave Fight for Life.
This community was greatly shocked when it heard of the death of Mrs. Gerry Royce which occurred in the University hospital, Minneapolis, Sunday, May 25. As Mr. and Mrs. Royce had been living in Waterford the past year it was not generally known that she was so critically ill or that she had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Zada Nell Case was the daughter of Mrs. Anna Case who lives two miles north of Farmington on the Jefferson highway. She was born at Orchard, Ia., May 7, 1901 and came with her parents to Minnesota some ten years ago. She attended the Farmington schools and on June 5, 1920, was united in marriage to Gerry Royce. One child was born to this union, a son, Earl who survives his mother. There are also eight brothers and sisters who live to mourn her death. Zada united with the Methodist church, Farmington, Oct. 6, 1918. She was always optimistic and full of life. As someone who knew her well said, "She just radiated life." She was well liked by all who knew her. It is a great comfort to her loves ones to know she has entered that place where the finest things of the soul will find gratification.
The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church and was conducted by the Rev. J. F. VanCamp who had baptized her and received her into the church from preparatory membership. Interment was made in Corinthian Cemetery.
