He married Elisabetha Barbara Schultz on 1-20-1747 in Palatine, Montgomery Co. New York.
They were Tories or U.E.L. (United Empire Loyalists) They died there. The Empey family was Politicly split, during this era, between loyalty to the King of England and Loyalty to the "Patriots cause". Those Empey`s loyal to the "Patriot" cause, changed their Surname spelling to Empie, as it is spelled today.
These two spellings are from the same Patriarch, Johan Ernst Emichen.(Empey), our earliest known Sire.
Philip fought for the Loyalist side, and was the rank of Corporal. He served in the Kings Royal Regiment New York (KRRNY). His Exodus to Canada, was due to the Loyalist loss of the American Revolutionary War.
At one point Philip and his grandson, Conrad, were captured by Indians. Philip escaped, (with a jack-knife he had), but could not wake Conrad.
