The funeral for Carl Thomas Carriker will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church in Forest Hill with the Rev. Joel McMickin and the Rev. Benard McCreery officiating. Military rites will be conducted by a Fort Polk honor guard. Committal service will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Carl, 65, entered eternal rest on July 5 in Alexandria. He was born on Sept. 1, 1944, to the union of Edward and Mamie Carriker. He was a veteran of the Army, employed by Holsum Bakery for 36 years as a maintenance engineer, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Forest Hill, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Edward T Carriker and Mamie Rabalias McWright; one grandson, Gatlin Carriker; and one brother, Edward T. Carriker Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 1/2 years, Dorothy "Dot" Carriker of Glenmora; four sons, Greg Carriker (Shera) of Tomball, Texas, Michael Carriker (Laura) and Ricky Carriker of Glenmora and Thomas Carriker (Stacey) of Forest Hill; eight grandchildren, Ricky "Lil Ricky" Carriker, Amy Carriker, Laken Carriker, Jeremy Carriker, Paige Carriker, Caleb Carriker, Devin Carriker and Jared Tomlinson; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Pinckert of Katy, Texas, Louise Campbell of Oxnard, Calif., and Cheryl Ann Ebert of McNary; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Pallbearers are Mickey Dauzat, Rickey Dauzat, Tony Wise, Curtis Blood, Dennis Martin, Troy Russell, Thomas McCreery and Rob Hewitt. Honorary pallbearers are Donald McCreery, Jerry Seal, Benard McCreery and Jimmy Burgins.
Friends may call today from 11 a.m. on Thursday in the church.
