OBITUARY:

Charles "Cat" Race, 93, a native of Grant County, died Friday at his home in Williamstown, Ky. He was the oldest living member of the Mason Baptist Church. His nickname of "Cat" dates back more than 60 years when he worked in the Ludlow yards for the Southern Railway. Fellow employees gave him that nickname because of one of his favorite expressions, "Well, now ain't that a cat." Survivors are his widow, Bertha Scroggin Race; sons, William C. Race of Florence, Woodrow Race of Cincinnati; stepson, Marvin Turner of Hillsboro, Ohio; brother, Hobart Race of Newport; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Burial in Mason Cemetery.
