Nellie Parsons Bledsoe is the wife of Harvey Bledsoe and the Mother of Glen Bledsoe, Charles Bledsoe, Frank Bledsoe and Faye Bledsoe Carroll.
Her Sister's are Ruby Allen, Edna Rogers, Sarah Jane and Ester Jean Parsons.
Her brothers are Paris Parsons, Woodrow Parsons and Johnnie Parsons.
Mamaw Nellie was a wonderful grandmother, always good to everyone and like her husband Harvey, salt of the earth. She raised her family and helped papaw with all the farm work during all the years I remember back to my childhood and my dad had told me she worked the same way when he was growing up. They raised and prepared just about all their food from Cows, Pigs, Chickens, Bees, Apples, Corn, Beets, Turnips, Corn, Green Beans, Tomatoes, Watermelons, Pumpkins, Squashes, Cushaws, Sunflowers, Cabbage, Lettuce, Cucumbers, Tobacco, all different types of Potatoes, and many other garden crops. They even made their own Lye Soap, Butter & Buttermilk and ground their own Cornmeal and made all their Jams & Jellies plus canned part of their garden crops for winter. They made use of everything and wasted nothing, this is just some of the things they did to survive back during and after the depression years. I remember when I was around 12 or 13 and started going with them to one of the tracks of farm land they had that was divided in 4 sections, it was fun going to the farm because we all got to ride 2 miles on a wagon behind a tractor hauling all the supplies, tools and water barrels, but just as we crossed the second creek the fun was over because we had to fill the water barrels first thing and and after that came the sweating from all the work to be done. Mamaw & Papaw were the most honest people anyone could know, they meant and did exactly what they said and were the kindest people you could meet. The little bit I've wrote about them is just very small sample of their true life and deeds.
