DeVonna Lee Nokes, 84 of Medford, OR. passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at her home in Medford.
DeVonna was born January 31, 1928 in Park Place, Oregon, an only child of Leo Bittner and Gladys Wryick-Bittner.
DeVonna was a homemaker. She and Harvey started their family in Warn Springs, OR., where Harvey worked in the logging camp. Later they moved to California where they raised their family. She worked as an Avon representative and for a short time a nurse's aide. After Harvey's retirement they returned to Oregon.
Devonna's favorite place to go was the beach, where she enjoyed collecting shells while walking along the beach. She loved to read; her favorite book was 'The Shell Seekers'. She also enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, and swimming. DeVonna also loved bird watching and feeding peanuts to the blue jays in her back yard. She spent a lot of time in her garden and in her younger days she loved to dance.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Nokes.
DeVonna had five children, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest at the Eagle Point National Cemetery alongside her husband Harvey. At 3:00 PM on Friday November 2, 2012 family will gather to celebrate her life at the New Far East Restaurant on Front Street in Medford, any one is welcome to join us.
