MIDWEST CITY - John C. Pedersen, Sr., 86, retired furniture buyer for Evans Home Furnishings for 30 years, went to meet his Savior on March 8, 2012, in Wichita KS.

He was born to Chris and Bertha McAnally Pedersen near Vanoss, OK on February 19, 1926. He served in the Navy on the USS Bushnell (AS-15) during WWII in the Pacific. He returned to Oklahoma to raise a family and attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. He moved to Oklahoma County, living in Spencer, Jones, then settled in Midwest City for 45 years, working at Davis & Iron, Big Red Furniture, then Evans. He was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church, was active in his children's lives and loved flowers, gardens and lawns. After being injured in a post-tornado accident on May 3, 1999, he moved to Chambersburg, PA in 2000, remaining there until 2012 to recover and receive care and was active at Chambersburg Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved stepmother, Corene Holbrook; wife of 42 years, Mae; wife of six years, Daphna; and brother, Carroll. The oldest of 14 is survived by sisters: Bobbie (Dale) Gentry of Stratford, OK; Helen Watson of Del City, OK; Sherri (Bob) Wick of Pleasanton, CA; Shelia (Bill) Brown of Leawood, KS; Sonja (Larry) Cluck of McAlester, OK; Laura (Wayne) Cothren of Ada, OK; brothers: Richard (Brenda) of Cooper, TX; Paul (Margaret) of Edmond, OK; Jim (Kathy) of Arlington, TX; Charles (Beverly) of Stigler, OK; Mike (Cindy) of Edmond, OK; Steve of Drexel MO; children: Arlene (Jerry) Barnes of Augusta, KS; Linda (Don) Stonecipher of Chambersburg, PA; John (Susan) of Wichita, KS; Phil of OKC; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation Monday, March 12, from 5-7 p.m. at Advantage Mid Del Chapel, and services Tuesday, March 13, 10 a.m. at Meadowood Baptist Church, Midwest City OK. Memorial contributions can be made to the Chambersburg Baptist Church building fund, 588 S. Second St, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
