Bea, as everyone knew her, attended the rural country school near her parents' farm, and then went to Concordia High School, graduating in 1921 with a teaching certificate in normal training. For the next five years, she taught at several country schools in Cloud County. After completing a course at Central Business School in Kansas City, Missouri, she was employed at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Concordia and later in the Cloud County Clerk's Office.
On May 15, 1937, Bea married Ward Butler in Winfield, Kansas. For six years, they lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, while Ward worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. They also made their home in Nacogdoches, San Angelo and Fort Worth, Texas, when he was employed with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service.
In 1950, they returned to the Glasco area when Ward took over the operation of his father's farm. They lived there until June 1983 when they retired and moved to the city of Glasco. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 15, 1987, with a reception at the Glasco Christian Church. Ward died on August 19, 1995.
Bea served as president of the Cloud County Republican Women and helped host a reception in Glasco for Bob Dole on his first campaign for congress.
Bea was a longtime and active member of the Glasco Christian Church. She was a kind and caring person, who for many years taught children's Sunday school classes. For over 20 years, she served her church as a deaconess and treasurer of the Ruth Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, George, Paul, Carl and Lane Fredrickson; sisters, Etta Landin, Alice Carlson and Marie Donaho.
Bea will be deeply missed by a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
