Cora Flaws 1916-1968

A Bemidji mother and her 18 year old son were killed Sunday night in a two car head on collision on Highway 2 at Wilton.
Dead were Mrs. Cora Flaws, 51, 2309 ash ave., and her son, Ronald. Seriously injured was Willard R. Haas, 30, Chicago, Illinois, Charles Flaws, 7, was treated and released at Bemidji Hospital.
The accident took place shortly before 7 p.m. Highway patrolmen said that a car, driven by Mrs. Flaws, was proceeding west on Highway 2 at the western edge of Wilton when it skidded out of control on the slippery pavement into the path of the Haas car, which was headed east. The front of the Haas car struck the right side of the Flaws car. Ronald, who was seated in the right front seat, was killed instantly. Mrs. Flaws died at the Bemidji Hospital at 8:45 p.m. She and Haas were taken to the hospital by the Bemidji Ambulance Service with Haas later transferred to St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo, for further treatment. He was listed in poor condition.
Charles was brought to the hospital by a passing motorist. Both autos were listed as total losses.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Flaws and her son, Ronald W. Flaws were held at the Cease Funeral Home at Bagley, Wednesday, November 13, at 2 p.m. John Sander of Virginia was the presiding minister. Burial was made in the Alida Cemetery.
Cora E. Thorson was born in Clearwater County, November 28, 1916, the daughter of Theodore and Emma Thoreson. She was married to Charley Flaws at Bemidji, November 11, 1944, and his death occurred November 16, 1960. She had lived in Alida until a year ago when she moved to 2309 Ash Avenue, Bemidji.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ross Bartz (Delores) of Redard, Montana; three sons, Robert, Charles and John of Bemidji; four brothers, Ro Thoreson of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Ervin of Leonard, Earl of Becida and Lester of Shevlin; two sisters, Mrs. Even Ekre of Shevlin and Mrs. Harry Samuelson of Oregon, and two grandchildren.
Ronald Flaws was born in Bagley, January 23, 1949, and is survived by a sister and three brothers.
