DEATH OF MRS. B. H. ELLIS;
Mrs. Clara Cheever Ellis, wife of Rev B.H. Ellis of Vancleave, died in the Biloxi City Hospital on Monday night after a short illness. The funeral was held in Vancleave on Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock. Rev R.L. Vaughn
pastor of the Vancleave Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Simpson the Methodist pastor. Interment was in the Vancleave Cemetery.
The following citizens and friends of the family acting as pallbearers: Messers Earl Davis, H.P. Woodman, W.R. Havens, V.G. Humphrey, W.H. Westfall and R.M. Spaulding.
A large number of friends and acquaintances of the family from Pascagoula Ocean Springs, Biloxi and other coast points attended the funeral, manybeautiful floral offerings lending their fragrant incense to the sympathy of friends for the bereaved ones. A feature of the funeral was the singing
of the hymns by children of the Bowen Mission founded by Mrs. Ellis a few miles north of Vancleave. Rev Mr. Ellis will have a memorial service next Sunday at 11 o'clock am at the Mission to which the public is invited to pay tribute to the work of this noble woman.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Osseo, Michigan, was 55 years, 3 months and 17 days of age, and had lived in Mississippi since 1905. She was a resident of Pascagoula from 1905 until about 11 years ago when the family moved to
Vancleave. For the past several years Mrs. Ellis was associated with Mr. Ellis in teaching the Live Oak Pond school a few miles north of Vancleave where her influence as a noble Christian woman is reflected in the progress the
children of mixed nationalities in that section have made under her guidance.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Ellis is survived by three sons and four daughters, as follows; Ivan C. Ellis of Seattle, Wash., B. Edward Ellis and George L. Ellis of Vancleave, Miss Gwendolen Ellis of Pascagoula, Mrs.
Ira T. Havens of Moss Point, and Misses Edna L. and Anna Ruth Ellis of Vancleave. There are also two grandchildren and a brother and sister in Michigan.
Thus a sweet, devoted wife and mother and noble worker in God's kingdom goes to her eternal reward, leaving behind the record of a life well-spent and to her children an heritage they may keep in memory as long as life shall last. to the devoted children and other dereaved ones the Chronicle-
Star join hundreds of friends in expressions of sincere sympathy.
