Lt. H. Chaney Dies in Action

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Chaney of Millington, have been informed by the war department that their son, Lt. Harold Chaney, 22, killed in action in Germany, April 23. Lt. Chaney had been serving with the 29th division of the Ninth Army since July, 1944.

Lt. Chaney was graduated from Marshfield high school in 1940 and attended Oregon State college where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He entered the service in the fall of 1943.

Lt. Chaney is the brother of Wayne Chaney of Coos Bay, T/Sgt. Howard Chaney, now stationed with the army in Georgia, and of Mrs. Gilbert Rickeard of Millington.
