He was my great-uncle. Here is his obituary:
Mr. Soderquist was born April 22, 1913, to Albert Walfred and Emma Amelia (Eagerblade) Soderquist near Axtell. He attended grade school near Axtell and Axtell High School. On March 11, 1936, he married Anna Mae Christine Popple at her parents' home. He farmed near Axtell until 1947. In 1948 they moved into Axtell where he worked for Rodine's Market and Berggren's Welding Shop. He then went into the carpentry business and retired. On July 15, 1993, his wife died. In 1997 he moved to Bethany Home in Minden.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, its various men's groups and boards. He served on the Axtell Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a member and former chairman of the Axtell Village Board. He was a member of Axtell Lion's Club, Axtell Board of Education and various organizations and committees in Axtell.
Survivors are one daughter, Marie Boston of Alma; one son, Leo of Axtell; one sister, Zenobia Goldberg of San Antonio; and six grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one brother.
