Edward Francis Beck, 64, of Billings died at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City on his birthday, April 7, 1997, where he had been undergoing cancer treatments.
He was born April 7, 1933 in Billings, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Billings Senior High. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb.4, 1953 until March 26, 1955, during which time he was stationed at San Luis Obispo, CA and France. He was a member of the Laborers Local 98 and worked at various construction jobs until retiring in 1986 because of ill health.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to read.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine DeCrane Beck; his mother, Margaret Campbell Beck; his stepfather, Edward James Beck, Sr.; his uncle, James Campbell; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Campbell.
He is survived by his sister, Maxine Steinmetz and husband Melvin of Laurel; four nephews, Duane, Jesse, Joel and Mark Steinmetz; three nieces, Belinda Holloway, Edith Smith, and Terri Reichert and their families, of Billings; an adopted son, Franklin; an uncle, Ernest Campbell and wife Fawn of Billings; aunts Beverly Campbell and Mary Sales of Bozeman; and numerous cousins and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Services are pending.
