Ethel Hartzell Caldwell, 87, of the Chatham Center Apartments, Pittsburgh, formerly of Benlteyville, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital Monday, October 11, 1976.
She was born April 16, 1889, in Rochester, a daughter of John William and Kate Blaine Hartzell. A member of the Bentleyville United Presbyterian Church, she was a graduate of Rochester High School and attended the former California State Teachers College and Geneva College, Beaver Falls.
She lived in Bentleyville until 1962.
Surviving are a sister, Mary K. Hartzell of Pittsburgh, and a brother, Merle Hartzell of Las Vegas, Nev.
On January 12, 1911, she married Stanley F. Caldwell who operated the Caldwell Drugstore in Bentleyville for many years. He died June 21, 1969.
Two sons, John H. and Dr. Richard A., died in 1929 and 1949, respectively, and a daughter, Katherine Louise, died in 1957.
