Nine crew members of the Fly-
ing Fortress on which Staff Sgt.
Anthony A. Pankratz, 34, former-
ly of 2502 University ave., was a
radio operator and gunner, were
seen in the water near the island
of Corsica after the plane was
forced down...
...Monday's report said
that the Flying Fortress on which
he was a crew member was dis-
abled over Tunisia on Nov. 10, but
remained in formation until it
neared Corsica. After it fell, nine
of the crew members were seen
in the water, but no further in-
formation was available.
Sgt. Pankratz' sisters and broth-
er in Madison are Larry Pan-
kratz, Mrs. Lester Miller, and
Mrs. Willis A. Graham. The par-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J.
Pankratz, Sr., Auburndale.

Mass to Be Said
for Sgt. Pankratz

A requiem mass will be cele-
brated in St. Mary's Catholic
church at Auburndale, Wis., Wed-
nesday for Staff Sgt. Anthony A.
Pankratz, who died of wounds
Nov. 11, 1943, in the North Afri-
can area. He had been reported
missing in action since Nov. 10,
1943.
Survivors of Staff Sgt. Pan-
kratz are his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph J. Pankratz, Sr.,
Auburndale; five sisters, Mrs.
Lester Miller and Mrs. Willis
Graham, Madison; Mrs. Larry So-
derberg, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Rob-
ert Meinholz, Waukesha, and Jean
Pankratz, Marshfield; and seven
brothers, four of whom are serv-
ing in the armed forces, Sgt. Ed-
ward Pankratz, Oklahoma; Pvt.
Robert Pankratz, Missouri; Pvt.
Raymond Pankratz, in the Pa-
cific; Pvt. Wenzel Pankratz, Trini-
dad; Larry Pankratz, Madison, and
Joseph J. Jr., and Ruben Pankratz,
Marshfield.
