Mrs. Alice May Hatchell, 73, 609 Q street, was dead on arrival at the Atchison hospital yesterday afternoon from an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Hatchell was stricken at the home of her daughter, Mrs Maryetta Stalder, 1313 Kearney street, and was taken to the hospital by the Atchison Ambulance Service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sawin-Dyer chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Chadbourn, pastor of the Carol Baptist church, officiating Burial will be Mr. Vernon cemetery.
Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Sawin-Dyer Mortuary. Friends may call at the Mortuary after 5 p.m. today.
Born Jan. 3, 1902, in Wiggins, Miss., Mrs. Hatchell was a daughter of Alfred A. and Martha Stearns Martin. She attended public schools in Mississippi and Texas.
She came to Atchison with her parents when she was a young woman. For many years she worked at the Wilson Poultry Co. and later for the Atchison hospital until she retired eight years ago.
Mrs. Hatchell was a member of the First Baptist church. She enjoyed traveling, viewing sports on television and making dolls.
In addition to Mrs. Stalder she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs Jack (Dottie) Gilliland, Lancaster and Mrs. John (Bonnie G.) Trower, route 3; one son, Donald Lee Hatchell, Topeka; 20 gandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank Hatchell, died April 14, 1972, and three brothers and one sister preceeded her in death.
