Mr. Robert L. "Bob" Hardin died May 4, 2013 after battling a lengthy illness for years.
He was born in Albany, GA on December 31, 1947. Bob lived in the Albany area his entire life, except for his college years. Numerous of those years he resided in Lee County. He graduated from Albany High School in 1966, where he was an outstanding athlete. He was MVP of the varsity football team, and received numerous college scholarship offers. He played college football at Troy State. He graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in Psychology.
In 1970, he married Deborah Hall Hardin also of Albany/Lee County. They were married 42 years.
He worked for the Dougherty County Tax Office as assistant chief appraiser for 31 years. He retired in 2004, due to his declining health. Bob was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church and was active in the Thursday Morning Bible Study, until his health declined.
In his spare time, Bob loved to pursue his longtime hobby of bass fishing. He fished bass tournaments most of his adult life. He fished the Red Man Tournament Trail, now called FLW, and placed in top 10 in 2 All-American National Tournaments. He fished with local bass clubs, and always fished the March of Dimes Tournament.
He was preceded in death by his father William W. Hardin and his brother William W. Hardin Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hall Hardin of Albany; his son William Andrew (Andy) Hardin and his wife Monica of Lexington, KY; his daughter Haley Hardin West and her husband Chase of Virginia Beach, VA; his mother Doris Sizemore Hardin; three sisters Kay Hardin Lehmann, Anne Hardin Cook, and Dottie Hardin Conyers; two brothers Stephen Hardin.
Services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery.
