Emma Faye Dawdy of Idalou departed this life on August 13, 2008 at the age of 90 years. She was born December 3, 1917 to Lee and Hattie (Williams) Baker in Montague County, Texas. Faye married John Homer Dawdy in Idalou on December 20, 1940. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2000. Faye was a homemaker and a member of the Indiana Avenue Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Marilyn Robertson and husband Dean of Longview; and Carol Griffin and husband Jerrel of Lubbock; two sons, Roger Dawdy and wife Claudia of Holly Lake Ranch; and J.O. Dawdy and wife Cheryl of Floydada; two sisters, Joseline King of Duncan, Okla.; and Darlene Cockburn of Midland; and one sister-in-law, Betty Baker of Floydada. Faye had 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Homer Dawdy; her parents; one brother, Sam Baker; and one sister, Helen Larson.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2008 at White Funeral Home in Idalou. Family will also be receiving friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Celebration of Life services for Faye will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Idalou Church of Christ with grandson Phil Robertson officiating. Interment will be at Idalou cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like to request memorials be sent to the Idalou Cemetery located on East Highway 62 / 82.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Idalou.
